Big casting update for Amazon Prime Video’s God of War series. Atreus and Thrud are both being recast for Season 2, and the details give us a real clue about how the show is going to be structured.
According to Polygon, the Season 2 casting call lists “Joshua” and “Ruth,” the same codenames used for these characters back in Season 1, but the age range now goes up to 17 when it previously topped out at 12. That points to a time jump between seasons, just like the games did. Instead of letting the current young actors age into the roles, production is bringing in new performers.
It also tells us the show is doing one game per season. Season 1 covers the first game, Season 2 moves into the sequel, no stretching a single game across multiple seasons.
We still don’t have a new Kratos after Ryan Hurst’s injury led to that recast too, but the good news is filming picks back up in October after the pause.
